Fern Canyon Oasis

( Garstin TRail to fern canyon oasis)

8 AM TO 2 or 3 pm

A Hike for the Adventurous Type.

Feb 23 (this is the date)
 8 am to 1:30 pm
( Palm Springs)

Lead  By Jason Bruecks

So here is the plan...

On Saturday Feb 16 we did Garstin to Fern Canyon and then returned the way we hiked. It was outstanding. A truly quiet area of natural desert beauty.

The trail is not easy. I think the hardest part is climbing up the Garstin Trail, but there is still more climbing on Wildhorse Trail.

The journey would be like doing Murray Peak or Art Smith from Palm Desert to Cathedral City. If you do those hikes with me or with others then you will do just fine.

According to map app on Feb 16:

10.2 miles round trip
Total Ascent 2,796
Total Descent 2800ft
It take 5 hours and 30 minutes to hike

For our backpackers in the group. This is a good test for you for Catalina Island.  Traci Nicoll Martin brought her backpack and she was outstanding on the journey. I promise to bring mine on this trip so I will slow down... I am bring my quick burner to test my lunch making skills.

Currently there are now ferns on at Fern Canyon, but there is a nice palm oasis and the rock are dripping water. It is a nice area for lunch and exploring.

If you are up to this hike and you feel you can do the timeframe of roughly 5 to 6 hours then joy us. Us won't be disappointed on the desert beauty.

PS you can turn around at any point so you wish you can just join us for Garstin and then head back if you wish. Always best to send me a text letting me know you made it back safely. So there you can do as much as you wish with us.

Please bring
3 liters of water
Good attitude
A snack or lunch
Camera because the views are awesome.

MEETING PLACE
IN Google Maps
Search for GARSTIN TRAILHEAD Palm Springs
It will take you to our meeting place.

We depart exactly at 8 am. Arrive earlier is best.

No dogs. They have the area shut for dogs due to the sheep lambing season.

If you bring someone please ensure they are in the condition to do this hike. This is not a first timer hike.
