MURRAY PEAK HIKE

-near PALM SPRINGS, CAlifornia - DIFFICULT

Sunday March 19

8 am to noonish

MURRAY PEAK HIKE-
is DIFFICULT but I think that EVERYONE could join the first part of the hike up Garstin Trail, which is a straight climb uphill, but one can turn around at any point on the Garstin trail. It is very straight forward hike on the Garstin. So at least climb that with us if Murray is way beyond your interest with a difficult hike.
We will be doing a group photo at Garstin  [🙂]
GOING BEYOND GARSTIN:
Those who are continuing on to Murray Peak
MURRAY PEAK IS
DIFFICULT DUE TO ELEVATION CLIMB.
It would be like doing three BUMP AND GRIND Trails.
8 miles
2300ft gain and drop
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
I would rate this hike difficult to strenuous due to distance and elevation gain. This hike is for hikers who can handle a steady pace.
It is important that hikers know that the HIKING SPEED is neither slow nor fast pace, and that we need to keep together AFTER GARSTIN. If there are members who know the trail well they can go as fast or slow as they wish.
Just be warned that after Garstin Trail there is more than one trail that connects to the loop and that can add many more miles to your hike if you take the wrong trail.
Murray Peak- you will be climbing more than 2000 feet in about 4.5 miles (one way), 8 miles total - with a couple of ups and downs along the way that add probably another 300 feet of vertical hiking - this is a 8-mile loop hike and is fairly strenuous but still do-able in about five hours for the average hiker. Adding lunch break and rest breaks adds more time to the overall event.
